Saturday, 15 August 09 Party Lite Party!

A couple weekends ago (I've been terrible at updating this thing!) I hosted a Party Lite party. I'd gone to one Cheryl hosted a couple weeks prior, and realized I couldn't afford anything I wanted unless I had a party...and of course our house needed more stuff, so...a party I had!

What we feasted upon:

* K's killer artichoke/spinach dip - this time with the added flair of Tilamook pepperjack cheese in lieu of feta...served with soft french bread, carrots & celery
* Zucchini dip, served with costco's organic tortilla chips -
Ingredients: 1 medium zucchini, cubed; 2 tbsp. white sugar; 1 tbsp. soy sauce; 1 clove garlic, chopped; 3/4 tsp. dried oregano; 2 c mayonnaise. Directions: (1) Place zucchini in a saucepan and fill with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 5 mins. Drain and transfer to a food processor. Process until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients (except mayo) and process until blended. (2) Transfer the pureed mixture to a serving bowl and stir in the mayonnaise. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
* homemade chocolate chip cookies
* strawberries
* wine, of course!

In attendance were: My mom and sister Aimee (her first time meeting the house), our favorite new neighbor Allison, Sarah J, Heather K, Cheryl S (who has just re-become a Party Lite consultant herself. Visit http://www.partylite.biz/sites/cherylsloan to buy stuff from her!), her adorable daughter Desi, Julie, Betsy, Christy and her friend Lauren, My wonderful mother-in-law, Kathy and grandmother-in-law, Marilyn, and of course our fabulous consultant, Brenda.

Thanks so much to everyone who came and helped me score all this cool (& nearly free) stuff:

Mr. & Mrs. Tortoise

Okay, so these guys do not live on Division Street, but they do live in the neighborhood, and I am too much of a voyeur to see something like this and not photograph and post it for all the world to see:

Saturday, 1 August 09 Pre-Concert Housewarming

To kick off Saturday's "Ladies' Day o' Fun", the group picked me up, bearing a gift basket of rum and mixers, which Aunt Barb transformed with haste into five delicious strawberry daiquiris. I gave a brief tour of the house, changed clothes twice, and we were off!!

Friday, 31 July 09 (POKER & NOT POKER PARTY!)

Last Friday we introduced the Division House to a Burdick poker party. They got along smashingly!
Justin Taylor, Jay (III), David (Polly's dad), Chris & Tiff T were among the first to show. Following suit were:
Jay's friend: the owl-adorned Kelsey (who displayed amazing beginner's luck by winning everyone's money!)
Sarah J, Natividad, Chris D, Heather K and Brian, Christy & Aaron.

We feasted on red sangria, chips & salsa, bread & pesto (once again!), freezer-burnt meat-lover's costco pizza and a safeway frozen cheese pizza.
The non-poker players had a blast re-establishing their mad Super Mario Brothers skillz on the old-school Nintendo!

A ridiculously cute and nerdy cross-legged Dashboard Confessional sing-along ensued...

Tuesday, 28 July 09 (NATIVIDAD'S SEEING OFF)

In consideration of a busy weekend of packing ahead, Natividad requested that her Seeing Off gathering take place on Tuesday evening. A delightful 3-hour happy hour resulted. In attendance were:

Aaron & Christy, Tim, Adam & Annalisa, Vince, Kim & Tyler, Heather & Brian, Chris Duchaine, Ian & Julie, Sarah Jutte & Natividad!

We listened to Rod Stewart on vinyl and attempted to stay cool, amid one air conditioner and 2 fans.

We feasted upon:

-Soft slices of baguette w/ Pesto (we really need an industrial strength food processor) & those cute little BabyBell triangles of spreadable cheese, served on our fancy Lenox tray (wedding gift from Grandma Pat)

-White wine sangria this time, featuring peaches & strawberries, and again falling drastically short of the necessary supply. For next time, I have learned that our friends really enjoy sangria, and that we can probably never have too much.

-Christy's delightful pitas & hummus;
-Julie's ridiculously amazing homemade 7-layer dip;
-Kim's delicious homemade guacamole (with tomatillos from her garden)

At some point, it was discovered that it was finally cooler out back than it was in the house. We migrated that direction and sat out back, corralled by tiki torches.

Bon Voyage, Natividad! We'll miss you!
